Real situation or perception – How do you think? | Thich Nhat Hanh quotes | Find him on Amazon
“To think in terms of either pessimism or optimism oversimplifies the truth. The problem is to see reality as it is.”
Real situation or perception – What is the illusion?
We are either hopeful (optimistic) or think the worst (pessimistic) about any situation in our lives. These are the two frames of thinking we all know about. Both of these thinking frames are majorly based upon beliefs – not reality.
We try to define the truth based on either of these thinking frames in any given situation. That is, in fact, not the truth but our prediction about the future that oversimplifies the reality – which is dangerous!
What is the right thinking frame?
Optimistic thinking cannot comprehend today’s problems, hoping for a better future.
Pessimistic thinking cannot let anything get better today, hoping everything is wrong only.
The right way of thinking is to see reality as it is.
Good or bad, seeing reality instead of your perception(optimistic or pessimistic) is the best way to make the right decisions in life!
Mindfulness is all about that, and Thich Nhat Hanh says the same in the quote!
